Big morning taking the Spearmint special off to the licensing centre.
The staff there were polite and professional and the pre booking system meant there was no long queue of cranky bogans, just me.
They found two problems. One was a worn tie rod end on the front steering arm, and the other was the two rubber boots covering each end of the power steering rack. I'll install two new rubbers and pull the tie rod end off the Ultima as long as it's okay.
All in it wasn't such a bad experience but I did have to drive all the way home again with no license plates. I had purchased a vehicle movement permit which allowed me to go to and from the license centre, not back via work unfortunately. Rebooked for Monday afternoon and they will only check the two things, then it should be all go. Yay.
